From Colorado to Hong Kong – Sharing the beauty of Canadian Ammolite

Amazing collections of minerals, gemstones, and fossils have been on display this past week at the Colorado Mineral & Fossil Fall Show. KORITE has been honored to participate and share the story of Ammolite—Canada’s rarest gemstone—which is ethically sourced at the KORITE mine site outside of Lethbridge, Alberta.

While ammonite fossils are found all over the world, only in a small region of Southern Alberta, known as the Bearpaw Formation, are they found with the bright, iridescent colors seen in KORITE ammolites. Only 3-5% of Ammonite fossils found posses the vivid colors and structural integrity to be considered true gemstones, making ammolite a real Canadian rarity. We are proud to have brought ammolite, the official gemstone of Alberta, to Denver. Perhaps the most striking piece at our Denver booth this year was this breathtaking specimen, showcasing the iridescent fossilized shell of an ammonite preserved in its natural matrix, alongside a second ammonite and a baculite.

As the Denver show draws to a close today, we want to express our gratitude to the event organizers and to everyone who visited our booth. The energy, conversation and connections we made have been amazing. But – we are not stopping just yet!

We've traveled 7,486 miles - all the way to Hong Kong - and our team is ready to share the colorful joy of ammolite with more gemstone and fossil enthusiasts. KORITE is set up at Booth 8J35 and ready for opening day at the Jewellery & Gem World Hong Kong show, hosted at AsiaWorld-Expo. Jewellery & Gem World is running now until September 18.
